What is the English exemption rule for U.S. naturalization?

If you’re 50 years or older and have lived in the U.S. as a permanent resident for 20 years (or 55+ and lived for 15 years), you may qualify for the English language exemption. You’ll still need to take the civics test, possibly in your native language.
